The Middle-High School January Students and Staff of the Month were named. Students are selected based on the ROAMS categories of respect, ownership, achievement, mindfulness, and safety. Mrs. Sara Kampa was chosen as Staff Member of the Month by the students of the month. Recipients are pictured left-right. Mayor Gloria Hanson visited Mrs. Quinn's Advanced Government Class. She discussed Fort Pierre's government issues and the development of our city.

Mrs. Cindy Kindle was named the January Elementary Staff Member of the Month. The elementary students know her as Miss Cindy. She does an outstanding job of ensuring the building is extra clean and ready each day for our students to learn. She is a team player and willing to help everyone. She serves lunch with a smile, has even stopped in the teacher’s lounge, and made popcorn for the staff a few times. Cindy is willing to help fix things, scoop snow, and listen to the kids when they see her in the hall. Thank you, Cindy! We appreciate you!

Please join your child's conferences Wednesday and Thursday, February 15 and 16. Middle-High School conferences will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Middle/High School Gym. Elementary conferences are scheduled via the link elementary classroom teachers emailed out.

The public is invited to attend the Stanley County School One-Act Play Tuesday, February 14, 2023. The play, “937” by Don Zolidis will be presented at 9:45 a.m. in the middle-high school gym. There is no charge to attend however, a free-will offering is appreciated.

Congratulations to the “One Act Play” cast and crew. State competition was held February 2-4, 2023 at O'Gorman High School in Sioux Falls. Receiving outstanding actor/actress awards were Riley Runge, Abby Wyly, Ryder Roseland, Cloey Voigt, Jackson Robbennolt, and Cadence Hand. The play performed was "937" by Don Zolidis.

Hats off to our wrestlers at the Big Dakota Conference Tournament held Saturday, February 4, 2023. As a team, SC placed 4th in the conference and 5th overall. Individual place winners were champion Colton Brady, and second-place Chase Hanson. Finishing with third-place in their respective weight classes were Witt Myers, Coy Ludemann, and Hayden Roggow. Taking fifth place was Spencer Sargent. Sixth-place finishers were Landon Bame, Case Kolda, and Tayten Walker.

Great job to our gymnasts at Wagner on Friday, February 3. Rachel Nemec, Addy Deal, Timber Hanson, and Elena Hebb qualified for state.

Stanley County Elementary has a special fundraiser. Ms. Shari Beeghly, our Stanley County Elementary 4th and 5th grade ELA Teacher, and former Orton Country School teacher is battling cancer. All students elementary thru high school are encouraged to participate as she taught many of the middle and high school students in the past. To help her out, there is a “Change War” between the students. The Change War will start on Monday, February 6 and end on Thursday, February 16. Change, dollar bills, and checks made to SC Schools will be accepted. The classroom that raises the most money will get to choose a pizza party or sundaes for the class. Other planned fundraisers include: a Pink Out Night with a 50/50 at the basketball doubleheader game on Friday, February 17; donation buckets at the concession stand during events through the end of the season; and a fundraiser at Pizza Ranch on Thursday, April 6th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Maher was named the December Staff Member of the Month. She does such fun and wonderful things as our sole 3rd-grade teacher. She has jumped in and done an outstanding job building relationships, keeping the students learning, and engaged in exciting projects at school. Thank you, Mrs. Maher. We appreciate you!!
