rushmore leadership conference

Nine Stanley County FFA members traveled to Belle Fourche to compete in the Rushmore Leadership Roundup, gaining valuable experience while showcasing their leadership and communication skills.

Students competed in a variety of Leadership Development Events, including Extemporaneous Speaking, Prepared Public Speaking, Marketing Plan, and Agriculture Sales. Several students earned top finishes, including Owen Spencer, who placed 3rd in Prepared Public Speaking, and Nick Gregg, who earned 2nd place in Extemporaneous Speaking. Hayden Norman placed 4th and John Krieger placed 6th in Extemporaneous Speaking.

The Marketing Plan team of Kinley Manning, Mayzie Lenz, Cayde Keil, and El'Cee Hemminger earned 3rd place while gaining ideas to strengthen their presentation for future competitions. In Agriculture Sales, Rachel Johnson earned 2nd place on her team after competing with students from another school when she was the only member of her team able to attend.

The contest served as a valuable practice opportunity as students prepare for their next competition in two weeks. Special recognition goes to all nine students who stepped up to learn new skills, embraced leadership opportunities, and answered the early 5:30 a.m. departure call. A special thank you also goes to Beau Gregg for safely driving the minibus to and from Belle Fourche.
