mask project

Our third-grade students embarked on an artistic adventure, the annual mask project! This hands-on experience allowed them to explore creativity while learning the careful steps of mask-making.

The process began with a challenge: students lay still as Mr. Dowell carefully applied plaster wrap to their faces, forming a unique mold. After about 20 minutes, the masks hardened and were set aside to dry, ready for the next phase.

Designing the masks was where imagination truly took flight! Using paper, pencils, and colors, students sketched out their visions, preparing for the final transformation. A little sanding helped smooth the surface, and then the real magic happened painting! With bold colors and intricate designs, each mask became a masterpiece.

Now proudly displayed, the masks are a wonderful showcase of creativity and effort. Students will take them home, as a cherished keepsake of their hard work.  Great job 3rd grade!
