Scholarships with a February deadline are posted below.

  • The South Dakota High School Coaches' Association has many scholarships available.

  • The scholarship is open to South Dakota students who were active in extra curricular activities through all of their high school years and plan to pursue a career in the ag industry

  • This year, Oahe Electric will award four $1,000 scholarships, as well as one $2,000 scholarship in conjunction with Basin Electric Power Cooperative, to students of member consumers.

  • Oahe Electric is also offering a $1,000 scholarship for a full-time student registered in a power line construction and maintenance program.

  • Scholarships of $5,000, $4,000, $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 will be awarded to five students from South Dakota enrolled in any post-secondary institution in South Dakota. All awards will be paid directly to the institution the student is enrolled in.

  • The South Dakota Education Association/NEA is calling for applications for the new Gordon Horgen Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded to Native American students who are planning on entering the teaching profession.

  • The program provides full tuition, fees, books, room and board to students pursuing degrees in agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or related academic disciplines.

  • You must be a child of a member of WR/LJ Rural Water or enrolled in one of the seven service area school districts.

Survivor Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis to graduating South Dakota high school Seniors that have been diagnosed with any type of cancer, at any point, and are attending any post-secondary education of their choosing.

  • To qualify, applicants must be in their senior year of high school, 19 years old or younger, and a VIBZ member at BHFCU.

  • Students can use the scholarship at any accredited vocational and technical school, college or university during the 2023 – 2024 academic year.

Children and grandchildren of veterans are eligible to apply along with veterans.  Scholarships will be paid to the Recipient and the Post secondary school that they attend after the completion of the 1st semester.

  • First-time entering freshman at BHSU, DSU, NSU or USD in 2023 

  • Intent to major in Elementary Education

  • Any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2020,

  • OR a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2020, is eligible to apply.

  • The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2023. Great-grandchildren are not eligible.


  • Our Health Professions scholarship provides financial aid to qualified American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate- and graduate-level students.

  • Recipients must be members of federally recognized Tribes and enrolled in an eligible health profession degree program.

  • In exchange for financial aid, scholarship recipients agree to fulfill a service commitment in full-time clinical practice upon completion of their academic or post-graduate clinical training.

  • The South Dakota High School Coaches' Association has many scholarships available.

  • Each year Burger King and the South Dakota High School Coaches Association will award a
    $1000.00 scholarship to a qualified and deserving high school graduate.

  • The scholarship is intended to assist qualified graduates to further their education at an accredited institution of high
    education.

The South Dakota Education Association/NEA awards scholarships to outstanding students who are planning on entering the teaching profession.

The Flying Five Foundation will award scholarships to one male and one female in our community that exemplify the athletic, academic, and leadership qualities that Tyler exhibited. When we accomplish these goals, we strengthen and inspire our community by displaying the values Tyler lived by.

The USDA Tribal Scholars Program offer full scholarships that empower students at Minority-Serving Institutions to pursue careers in agriculture.

Availabe to the child of a member of West Central Electric Cooperative. The applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time graduate or undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.

The SD State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution offers an annual $500 scholarship to direct descendants of US Military Veterans.

  • Freshman Native American Students who are pursuing studies in agribusiness, agricultural production, agricultural sciences, or a natural resources degree at any postsecondary institution.​​

  • Applicant must be a Senior

  • Applicant must have achieved at least one (1) of the following: (A) minimum of B+ average; (B) Ranked in the top 25% of class; (C) ACT score of 24

  • Applicant must have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport

  • Applicant must have earned at least one varsity letter in each of two sports

  • The Ardell Bjugstad Scholarship Program for Native American Students provides support for freshman Native American Students who are pursuing studies in agribusiness, agricultural production, agricultural sciences, or a natural resources degree at any postsecondary institution.

  • These scholarships are based on leadership, community service, activities both in and out of school, and financial need.

  • You must have maintained 3.0 GPA and enroll in a college, university or technical school to be eligible.

  • Completing this 1 application, allows you to be considered for 4 different scholarships!

  • Must be a Riggs or SC graduate

  • GPA 2.5

  • Plan to enroll in a trade or tech school

  • Be an enrolled member of an American Indian tribe

  • Must attend a public or non-public accredited university, college or technical institute located in South Dakota

  • Applicant must be a BankWest deposit account holder for a minimum of six months preceding the application deadline.

  • Applicant must be a high school senior or full-time undergraduate student currently attending an accredited post high school educational institution.
