County gymnasts Lindsay Stoeser and Brittni Scott made a welcome return
at the Wagner Invitational Saturday.
The
two combined for almost half of the Lady Buffs' total of 114.75,
good for second place. Both had returned from a Hawaiian vacation.
"They both were nervous but they had some awesome
routines," said coach Nicki Abels.
Stoeser won the vault with a score of 8.9. She was second on the
floor with a 9.2 and on the beam with a 8.3 and third on the bars
at 8.3. Her total score of 34.7 was an all-time high for the
junior.
Scott had more than 21 points in three events. She skipped the
floor routine.
The Lady Buffs were second in the team standings to perennial
Class A power Madison. The Bulldogs scored 132.7 points. Miller
was third at 113.3.
Eighth grader Stacy Huss scored a 23.9 in the all-around.
"She was also very nervous but she is improving all the
time," said Abels. "Erin Briggs got a 26.6 in the
all-around."
The Lady Buffs debut at home with a five-team tournament Saturday.
Competing are teams from Miller, Sturgis, Wall-Kadoka and
Chamberlain. |
